McIntire - Cooley Wedding

On Saturday, August 7th at 3:00 pm, we will celebrate the wedding of Anthony McIntire and Jamie Cooley. The ceremony will be held here at SCF.  You are invited to share in the joy of their wedding  and in the reception that will follow in the Fellowship Hall.

Pray for these two as they join their lives, and their families, together.  Pray that God will be honored as they grow together and as they grow in the grace and knowledge of the Lord.

Deacon Mini-Retreat

On Saturday, August 7th, the SCF Board of Deacons will be holding a mini-retreat at the Jones Center here in Springdale.  The event will last from 9:00 am till 1:00 pm.  Lunch will be shared together.

There are two main items on the agenda.  The first is an extended study of spiritual leadership and the second will be planning and goal-setting for the fall and beyond.  As God continues to grow SCF, the Deacons will take on an expanding role.

Please pray for this leadership team as they spend time seeking the Lord and His best for SCF.

David & Rebecca Schneider at SCF

We are looking forward to hosting David & Rebecca Schneider on Sunday, July 11th!  The Schneider serve the Lord in Turkey but are back in the States for a short time. David will be sharing his heart and the message during our worship service, which starts at 10:45.

You will be encouraged to hear with the Lord is doing in Turkey.  You will also be encouraged by the faithfulness of these two servants.  It is easier to feel more a part of their “team” when you get to know them and sense their heart and calling.

And yes, David is Pastor Mike’s brother.

SCF in the Sprindale Morning News

Many of you have already noticed and commented on this, but SpringCreek Fellowship was in the Springdale Morning News over the weekend!

The Saturday edition of the paper carried an article that was written about the donation of “the man’s bench” to the Springdale Health & Rehab. Center, right across the street from the church building.  Just to remind you, two of our Community Groups, the Sunday morning group led by Pastor Rick and the Sunday evening group hosted by Rob & Linda Phillips, combined their efforts for this service project.  It is a “work bench” designed for men who are suffering from Alzheimer’s or other dementia-related disorders, designed and funded by these two groups.

Copies of the article are available or it can be viewed online

VBS 2010 “In the Books”

It was a great week for Vacation Bible School for SCF!  Just to give you an indication of the impact of the week, here are some numbers for you:

We averaged 40 children (5 years old through 5th grade) per night, with a total of 56 different children attending.  That is well over the average of our FaithWeaver Friends ministry (same age span) at the end of the school year.

There were a total of 36 families represented by those children.  Of that number of families, 24 would not consider SCF as their church home.  Some shared our VBS from other churches but many are not involved in any church.  That means this VBS has the potential to be a great source of outreach.  Pray for the follow-up that has already begun!

The children raised $613 to be sent to Macedonia to help support the outreach of Ryan Blackstone and Marty Hampton.  That is the highest total amount raised in any VBS in SCF history.  Some other monetary gifts were given raising to the total amount to be sent to over $750!

We rejoice in this and give God all the glory!

Pastor Mike back home . . .

After one delayed flight, after a missed flight and an overnight stay in Germany, Pastor Mike arrived safely back home late Monday afternoon.  After a brief stop at home, he joined us just before the closing of the first night of VBS!

Pray for Pastor Mike as he recovers from a “quick trip” to Europe.  He will be sharing about his time in Macedonia during the morning worship service on Sunday, July 11th.

VBS 2010 Starts on June 21st

It’s time! All the prep work is done and we are ready for VBS 2010! And it looks to be a great week.

The schedule each night will be the same: a light meal will be served for kids and staff and 5:30 pm; VBS will start at 6:00 pm and will conclude at 8:30 pm.

Though the staff is in place, there is still room for other volunteers. If you would like to help, simply come to SCF tonight around 5:30 and see Director Tonya Tetrick.  She will get you assigned where another set of hands would be helpful.

“Operation Space” is ready to blast off!

Pastor Mike in Macedonia

Pastor Mike has safely arrived in Macedonia!  Here is part of his first email:

“We are getting to bed really late tonight and teaching begins at 10am tomorrow (2 -2 hour sessions) Looks like they have a full week planned for me. It was in the 90’s today and not very much a/c! Marty gave his testimony at a church tonight through a translator and Ryan led worship. The church people sang really loud, and the men had a incredible tenor sound. Small church, but vibrant.”

Pray for Pastor Mike as he teaches this week and interacts with the YWAM students, Macedonians he will meet, and with Ryan & Marty!

Parent’s Night Out

The Whisel Community Group is sponsoring a “Parent’s Night Out” on Saturday, June 12th. Take advantage of this ministry to enjoy some down time!

Children six months through 12 years can be brought to SCF, between 5:30 and 9:00 pm.  Games and snacks and crafts and recreation will all be provided.  Please register your children in advance by calling Deb Bonner (879-2994) or Tammie Stokenbury (841-0505) so they know how to prepare.

The cost is simply a donation of food that will be given to a local food bank.

SCF in the News

Our friends at the Springdale Health and Rehabilitation Center paid us a nice compliment in the Springdale Morning News!  In the letters to the editor, SHRC thanked SCF and the First Presbyterian Church for allowing them to use our parking lots while theirs was under construction.

They go on to add this: “Also, some members of SpringCreek Fellowship gave us the most wonderful gift several weeks ago.  The members funded and built a “Man’s Bench” for use by our residents with Alzheimer’s or other types of dementia.  Our residents use the bench daily and it has impacted their lives in a very positive way, for which we are so grateful.”

Jesus has called us to be a servant community.  People do notice when we live out that calling!
